Bangalore (Bengaluru) is the capital of Karnataka. It was Kempe Gowda I who set the foundation of Bangalore city. He was a nobleman who, with the support of the people, built an expansive mud and brick fort which later became central Bangalore.
An ancient city which is believed to have existed from the time of Emperor Ashoka’s rule, Mysore has grown into one of the biggest cities in Karnataka. From the 10th century onwards there is documented evidence of the role played by this city in various historical events. It became the headquarters of the Wodeyar dynasty in 1584 AD, and since then there has been no turning back. Besides being one of the country’s top tourist destinations, it is also known for its cleanliness and old world charm.
Lovingly called the ‘Queen of Hill Stations’, Ooty in Tamil Nadu is a hill station tucked away in the Nilgiris. In earlier times, Ooty was occupied by the tribe of Todas who later handed it over to Mr John Sullivan, the tenth Governor of Coimbatore to build up the city.
